Congratulations to the second cohort of ScaleUp Thurston! On Thursday July 28, 2016, the class graduation took place in conjunction with the Center for Business & Innovation’s (CB&I) Business & Innovation Celebration.
The first annual Business & Innovation Celebration provided a platform for businesses of all types and sizes to learn, grow, and innovate. With workshops on innovation training, networking, and an Innovation Video Contest, it was the perfect tie-in to the ScaleUp Thurston graduation.
The ScaleUp graduation presentations drew a packed crowd from event participants, including several Board members of the Thurston EDC. The room was filled with supportive people learning about and cheering on the ScaleUp companies.
Each ScaleUp company gave a 5-minute PowerPoint presentation summarizing their growth plans. A common theme also emerged on the value of the lessons learned from their ScaleUp training experience.
The third cohort for ScaleUp Thurston will begin on January 5, 2017. To apply, please Apply Here before December 26, 2016.

On Thursday, April 7, 2016, the first Cohort of ScaleUp Thurston graduated! Each company gave a 5 minute PowerPoint presentation with elements of their Growth Plans and lessons learned from the experience. Some common themes emerged. Many companies were launching into new marketing efforts such as new vehicle wraps, expanded use of social media, and entering new markets. Several business owners expressed a new-found understanding of the nuances of their financial reports, and new approaches to forecasting. There were many kind words of thanks for the experience.
The public was invited to attend, and several EDC Board members were present, including Lacey Councilperson Virgil Clarkson, Jessica Jensen, and Reid Bates. A number of family members and employees were also present to celebrate the accomplishment. Afterwards, the group enjoyed conversation and treats, including Miss Moffet’s Mystical Cupcakes.
The second cohort for ScaleUp Thurston will begin on May 5, 2016 and the participating companies will be announced soon.
